Al Perry lives in Herriman, Utah having grown up on a farm in Indiana. He has enjoyed photography for over 50 years after purchasing his first camera while in the U.S. Army during the late 1960’s. He went back to school in 1970 and helped pay for three programs of study by photographing social functions on campus along with weddings. After school, he cut back on his photographic business and worked in the natural resources field. He started to transition back to photography some 20 years ago specializing in nature photography.
In 2006, Al Perry was selected as one of 14 nature photographers to compete on Hill Country ranches. He spent 30 days in April 2006 at the Annandale Ranch photographing the natural beauty of the ranch. The contest awarded $200,000 to the photographers and ranch owners. While on the ranch, the ranch owners were very supportive of Al’s efforts.
The friendship between Al and ranch owners has continued throughout the last 13 years. The ranch recently celebrated 130 years of continuous family ownership with Al and his wife, Joyce, attending the celebration on April 27, 2019.
